Advisory: Public Safety Officers have female subject in custody after alleged Kidnapping and Armed Robbery that occurred at WalMart
The Emmett Township Department of Public Safety has a 37 y.o. Battle Creek Woman in custody after an alleged Kidnapping and Robbery that occurred in the parking lot of Wal-Mart 6020 B Drive North in Emmett Township.
The victim, a 72 y.o. Battle Creek woman was approached by the 37 y.o. female suspect where she asked for a ride. The victim allowed the suspect into her car, however once inside the suspect allegedly informed the victim that she had a gun and stuck it in her side. The suspect then allegedly demanded money from the elderly victim and then told her to drive.
The suspect then forced the victim to drive around to different areas around Battle Creek until she got out of the vehicle in the area of Capital Ave and Janoah St in the city. The victim then fled the area and reported the incident to police. The victim was not injured.
Public Safety Officers with the assistance of Wal-Mart security and a sheriff deputy were able to identify the suspect from surveillance footage obtained from the store.
A broadcast to area agencies was put out and a sheriff deputy spotted with the suspect, and placed her into custody without incident.
The suspect is currently being held at the Calhoun County Jail facing several charges. Her name and further information will be withheld pending arraignment.
